Turkish biochemist Aziz Sancar was born in Mardin, Turkey, on September 8th 1946. He had really a great success story. It started in a small town in Turkey and still goes on in the USA. Aziz Sancar received his primary education in his hometown and graduated from Faculty of Medicine at Istanbul University with a great success. In 1977, he went to the USA to take his PhD degree at the University of Texas in Dallas. One year later, he married to Gwen Boles Sancar. After completing his PhD, he worked as a lecturer at many American Universities.
